Coupon Mom: Savings on holiday treats and tea

10:00 am November 24, 2011

Now that you have your Thanksgiving meal shopping completed, you’re ready to take advantage of great Black Friday deals at not only big retailers, but also the national drugstore chains. Look for special circulars in today’s newspaper for deals for items that may be free when you stack the sale prices with coupons and automatic rebates. You can also find bargains at the drugstore that make great holiday gifts, such as boxed chocolates, fragrances, games and photo gifts.
Look for Extra Bucks to get items for free

Holiday treats: The Black Friday deals at CVS start today and last through Saturday. They include several items that will be free after Extra Bucks. Look for 99-cent items with 99-cent Extra Bucks such as Excedrin twin pack (eight count for each variety), Advil PM (four count) and select Hershey’s King Size chocolate bars. Carmex lip balm is $1 with a $1 Extra Buck (use the 30-cent coupon from the Oct. 30 Redplum circular to make a 30-cent profit), Gum twin pack toothbrushes are $2.99 with $2.99 Extra Bucks, Theraflu eight-count caplets are $1.87 with $1.87 Extra Bucks. CVS batteries (AA or AAA four-pack) are $3.99 with $3.99 Extra Bucks, selected varieties of Colgate premium toothpastes are $2.87 with a $2.87 Extra Bucks, Cepacol lozenges (16 count) are $4.99 with $4.99 Extra Bucks.

Breakfast also part of Black Friday sale

General Mills: Included in the CVS Black Friday sale is General Mills Chex, Cinnamon Toast Crunch or Total cereals (10.6- to 14-ounce boxes). On sale for $2.87, you will get a $2 Extra Bucks reward on one box, so your net cost will be 87 cents per box.
Sip and stay calm

Celestial Seasonings: Tea (18- to 20-count bags) is on sale for $2.50 when you buy two boxes at Walgreens. Use two $1 coupons from the Nov. 6 Smartsource circular to pay $1.50 each.

Savings on sweets

Russell Stover, Whitman’s: Rite Aid offers double savings on Russell Stover or Whitman’s 18- to 24-ounce varieties of boxed chocolates. They are on sale “buy one, get one free” and you will also get a $10 +UP Reward when you buy $30 of Bonus Buy items, which includes these chocolates as well as many other holiday décor, packaging, games and gift items. Be sure to check the coupon database at CouponMom.com to see if any new newspaper coupons are available for these brands to save even more.
